The Kensington

The owner has BSL level 2 (British Sign Language) and although she does not get the opportunity to use it very often (so may be a little rusty) she is sure that if you are a BSL user you will be able to understand each other.

Comfort and cleanliness are the house’s top priority. The rooms are equipped with hospitality trays, central heating and colour televisions.

The Kensington serves an excellent home-cooked breakfast with local ingredients as part of the 'Deliciously Yorkshire Breakfast Scheme.' All food is home-made and evening meals are also made using local ingredients wherever possible.

The Kensington is located close to beautiful Peasholm Park, which is in the North Bay area. The North Bay has a wonderful sandy beach which is loved by all ages. The picturesque Blue Flag bay sees the ruined Medieval Castle standing 150ft up on the headland towards the south and to the north stands the popular Sea Life Centre with large tanks displaying marine life, underground viewing tunnel and hospital for rescued seals. Nearby are the Indoor Bowls Centre, the cricket ground, the indoor swimming pool, and Hollywood Plaza Cinema.

From the North Bay you can walk or take an open top bus around the Marine Drive at the foot of the Castle hill to the South Bay were you will find the famous Spa Complex, the Futurist Theatre, the harbour and amusement arcades.

The house is a 10-minute walk from the town centre where you will find a varied selection of shops, including the Brunswick shopping centre. There is a good selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs. The Stephen Joseph Theatre is also within easy walking distance.

The Kensington is very close to the rebuilt amphitheatre in Scarborough.

Please note that the Kensington does not accept bookings for hen or stag parties, or single-sex groups or parties of any kind.

The hotel's parking permits are valid from 14:00 on the day of arrival.

Please mention when booking if you are unable to manage the stairs so that the hotel can accommodate this request, as 2 double rooms are on the 2nd floor. Please note that this may not always be possible, and is subject to availability.
